Happy International Women's Day: Our 2024 Celebration

To celebrate International Women’s Day this year, we wanted to highlight the amazing, kind, intelligent, and powerful women of YouCanBookMe.

As kids, we’ve all dreamed about what our futures would look like. Whether we wanted to be firefighters, veterinarians, or artists when we grew up, or something more ambiguous like “build a better world.”

And we believe that, as a team, we’ve been able to build a better world—at least in our little corner of it. As a team, we’ve collectively contributed to building an environment that’s inclusive, equitable, and safe for people of all walks of life. We’re also grateful that we get to say that we work in a place where uplifting women is the norm rather than the goal. 

A quick look at our current DNA:

• Woman-led business with Bridget Harris as our CEO
• 75% of our leadership team is women
• 31% of our engineering team (Full-time and contractors) are women
• 50% of our full-time staff are women

As we celebrate, it’s important to acknowledge that the makeup of our company is unfortunately not the norm.

The hard truth: Being a woman in tech isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. At most companies, women are the minority and face several uphill challenges, even in 2024.

A recent report by Women in Tech found some alarming (but unfortunately not surprising) numbers, including:

• 2.3% of women-led startups get funding
• Only 25% of C-level leaders are women
• 72% of women in tech report experiencing a prevalent “bro culture” at work
• For every 100 men promoted to Manager, only 87 women and 82 women of color get the same promotion
